People are bothered by the white substances found on the surface of blueberries and grapes, which do not come off by regular rinsing. The white coating is actually a combination of yeast, naturally produced by the grapes, dust and pesticides. Many find washing them a headache - it can be easily achieved using the following steps:
1. Put the blueberries into a large bowl. Sprinkle some flour (any type of flour) or baking soda onto the blueberries.
2. Swirl the bowl to coat all the blueberries with the flour/baking soda. Then shake the bowl back and forth for about 10-20seconds.
3. Pour water into the bowl.
4. Rinse the blueberries a couple of times. Drain well.
5. The picture below is a comparison of after washing and before washing the blueberries.
